2023 marked the opening year of fully implementing the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and the 870th anniversary of Beijing’s being established as a capital city. The Beijing Historical and Cultural City Protection Committee has strengthened the overall planning, coordination, and promotion efforts, and urged the implementation of various plans. Under the organization of the Capital Planning and Construction Committee, the central and local governments worked together with various districts to carry out the important planning of the capital. Taking the opportunity of Beijing’s efforts of enlisting its Central Axis as a World Cultural Heritage Site, the overall protection of the old city has been strengthened, and a batch of landmark results were achieved, further enriching the capital flavor of the city and improving its living environment, and bringing a new look to the millennium-old capital city.

With the strong support of the member units, the Office of the Beijing Historical and Cultural City Protection Committee has compiled the “2023 Beijing Historical and Cultural City Protection Highlights” in conjunction with the Capital Cultural Innovation and Communication Research Institute. The “Highlights” are hereby released.
