On June 12, 2026, Shi Xiaodong, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Chief Planner (concurrently) of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources, and President of the Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning & Design, delivered a thematic briefing on “Policy Support and Project Planning for Urban Renewal” on behalf of the Institute’s Chief Responsible Planner Team for Shijingshan District ahead of the district government executive meeting. The session was chaired by Wan Long, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shijingshan District Committee and District Mayor. District leaders and heads of major departments attended the study session, while leaders from other departments, subdistricts, and district-owned state enterprises participated from branch venues.
Focusing on urban renewal, Shi Xiaodong gave a systematic interpretation of the latest national and Beijing municipal policy arrangements. Drawing on the implementation of typical projects, he introduced the implementation basis and areas of support across the full process of the Beijing Urban Renewal Policy Incentive Toolbox (Version 1.0). He also highlighted the Institute’s planning practices in the Chongwenmen East-West Cultural Exploration Space and the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center, presenting key priorities, working methods, and outcomes in project planning in the context of urban renewal.
Wan Long summarized the briefing and set out follow-up work requirements, and expressed thanks on behalf of the district government to the Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning & Design for its long-standing support for planning and development in Shijingshan District.
Going forward, the Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning & Design will continue to implement the national strategic arrangements for urban renewal and Beijing’s related work requirements. It will further strengthen planning-oriented urban renewal and support for project planning, leverage the role of the district-level Chief Responsible Planner Team as a planning think tank, and help advance urban renewal in Shijingshan District in a comprehensive and in-depth manner.
