On August 30, the “High-Precision 3D Dataset of Xiannongtan” developed by the Beijing Institute of Surveying and Mapping (referred to as the “Institute”) received the Data Intellectual Property Certificate from the Beijing Intellectual Property Protection Center (Beijing Office of the National Intellectual Property Administration), following a thorough review and public disclosure process. This marks the first-ever intellectual property certificate for 3D data in the surveying and geographic information sector nationwide.
The registration of data intellectual property aims to protect data holders and processors who apply specific rules or algorithms to their data. This initiative helps safeguard the legitimate rights of stakeholders in the data market, promotes the efficient flow and use of data, and unlocks the potential of data assets, contributing to high-quality development of the digital economy. The successful registration of the 3D data intellectual property represents another innovative step in Beijing’s national pilot program for new surveying technology. It explores methods to protect the intellectual rights associated with processing and managing 3D data, offering valuable insights for the surveying and geographic information industry to secure data rights, promote applications, and optimize revenue-sharing mechanisms. This also ensures legal protection for stakeholders in the geographic data market, facilitating the effective use of geographic data as a strategic resource in economic and social development.
The Institute processed the original data through multi-source integration, spatial alignment, pre-processing, and 3D modeling. Using advanced graphic rendering engines, they created a strategy for showcasing the cultural heritage of open architectural complexes, focusing on the detailed structures and textures of key historical buildings. This technology allows users to immerse themselves in the high-precision 3D environment of ancient architecture along the Central Axis, providing a realistic experience of its cultural charm through customized viewpoints, weather changes, and dynamic lighting effects.
As an important element of the national new infrastructure, 3D data plays a crucial role as a strategic resource supporting economic and social development. Establishing such a system is vital for protecting and managing the interests of all stakeholders involved. The intellectual property certificate for the “High-Precision 3D Dataset of Xiannongtan” serves as recognition of the Institute’s intellectual rights and achievements in processing and algorithmically refining data.
Moving forward, the Institute will actively pursue the operation of data intellectual property, further unlocking the potential of high-precision 3D data in areas such as cultural heritage protection, monitoring, promotion, and revitalization, thus supporting high-quality development.
