To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China, the 6th Cultural and Arts Festival Choral Competition for Beijing Municipal Agencies was held at the Capital Library Theater on May 17, 2024. The event took the theme of “The Beauty of Labor, The Flowers in May”. BMICPD’s “Tomorrow Choir” attended the competition on before of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources. “Tomorrow Choir” secured the first prize of the competition with two wonderfully presented songs: “Distant Times” and “As Wished.”

Following the notice of the competition, the workers’ union of BMICPD, fully backed by its leadership, organized intensive rehearsals. Over just one month, the choir members, using their lunch breaks, overcame numerous challenges, improving tone, pitch, and ensemble coordination significantly. Their performances, rich in melody and emotion, earned thunder-like applauses from the audience and judges alike for their heartfelt renditions celebrating the nation’s aspirations for a better life.

On May 28, the awards ceremony and performance showcase took place at the Music Hall of the Beijing Art Center. Liu Hong, Party Secretary of the Institute, received the award. Choirs from 26 municipal agencies delivered an exceptional musical feast. In a joint performance with the Changping National Laboratory, BMICPD’s choir again demonstrated their unity and spirited dedication with “As Wished.”
