On April 28th, the Beijing Institute of Geological & Prospecting Engineering (BIGPE) was awarded the honor of “Demonstration Case of Energy and Resource Saving for Public Institutions in Beijing” for its project of implementing a Composite Ground Source Heat Pump Heating and Cooling System in the Beijing sub-center. Mr. Huang Xueqin, Vice President of BIGPE, attended the ceremony and received the award.

The meeting emphasized that 2024 is a pivotal year for achieving the goals outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025). Public institutions nationwide are expected to lead efforts in energy conservation and carbon reduction through green transformation and solid measurement practices. To this end, efforts must focus on renewable energy, market-driven green power utilization, and electrification at the terminal end. These initiatives will accelerate the green transition, activate market mechanisms, and foster synergy across public institutions, ultimately propelling the city to a new level of energy efficiency and green development.

Under the leadership of the Beijing Municipal Administration of Government Logistics, BIGPE and its subsidiary, Huaqing Geothermal Group, have followed General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instructions for the Beijing sub-center. The project aligns with the principles of “world vision, international standards, and Chinese characteristics,” resulting in the construction of the world’s largest single-batch geothermal “dual-energy” system within the sub-center, setting a new benchmark for Beijing’s green operation mode and a model for near-zero emission.

This project highlights the Institute’s excellence in professional technology and service quality. Since its operation began in October 2018, the system has consistently provided stable and reliable indoor climate control with significant energy-saving effects. Through a world-class configuration setting of both hardware and software, and an innovative operational model, the project serves as a leading example for achieving carbon neutrality goals in Beijing’s sub-center and beyond.

Moving forward, BIGPE will continue to follow the standards of the award-winning project. The Institute aims to prioritize the development of energy-saving public institutions, take standardized and information-driven approaches, foster continuous improvement through reform and innovation, and lead the change toward a greener, more energy-efficient future.
