To uphold Xi Jinping’s ecological civilization principles and build a beautiful China, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources, in collaboration with the Municipal Bureau of Landscaping and Greening, has drafted the “Beijing Garden City Plan (2023-2035)” (referred to as the “Plan” hereinafter). Following its review and endorsement by the Executive Meeting of the Beijing Municipal Government on February 2 and the Standing Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee on February 21, 2024, the Plan was further deliberated and approved at the Third Director’s Office Meeting of the 20th Capital Planning and Construction Committee on March 27th.

To effectively follow through the spirit of the meetings and facilitate the execution of the Plan, the Commission joined with the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Landscape Architecture and Greening in convening a meeting on April 3 focusing on implementing the “Beijing Garden City Plan (2023-2035)” and the “Opinions on Advancing Ecological Civilization and the Construction of a Garden City”. The meeting explored the rationale and pivotal components of the Plan and the Opinions and charted out the forthcoming tasks and initiatives.

In the next step, the Commission will adhere to the operational directives set forth by Beijing and focus on effectively implementing the Special Plan, while diligently advancing the construction of the Garden City in accordance with the Plan.
