Joint Meeting Held to Advance Key Energy Projects in Beijing

To collaboratively advance key energy infrastructure projects in Beijing, Level-I Inspector Zhang Yaqin of the Commission presided over a joint meeting with the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and the Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Management. Following the principles of joint planning, collective review, obstacle troubleshooting, and acceleration of approval processes, the meeting focused on municipal facilities related to energy infrastructure. Liu Ronghua, a Level-II inspector from the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, and leaders of relevant departments and offices from various commissions, participated in the discussions.

During the meeting, the Municipal Urban Management Commission provided an overview of the progress made since the inception of the joint meeting mechanism in 2022, highlighting the advancements in major energy infrastructure projects in Beijing and outlining key challenges facing projects acceleration in 2024. Participants shared their opinions on overcoming obstacles and bottlenecks and proposed ideas for forthcoming efforts.

Comrade Zhang Yaqin commended the collaborative efforts of the Joint Meeting in advancing energy infrastructure construction. Zhang’s remarks at the meeting focused mainly on the following: 1) recognizing the systemic nature of the energy transformation in the context of the dual-carbon initiative, collective efforts must be made in green energy transformation aligned with the needs of Beijing. This entails jointly defining the direction of new energy development and understanding the role of new energy in enhancing Beijing’s energy innovation and green development. 2) sustain the coordinating role of the Joint Meeting Mechanism, clarify the policies related to pipeline corridors and other supportive measures, and formulate industry standards for emerging sectors to facilitate project implementation. and 3) expedite the resolution of legacy issues concerning critical lifeline projects, enhance interdepartmental coordination, and collaborate with enterprises to streamline the administrative approval process and alleviate bottlenecks.
