Liao Zhengxin, Vice President of Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning & Design Attends the Beijing Smart City Spatio-Temporal Information Conference

The Beijing Smart City Spatio-Temporal Information Conference, as part of the Zhongguancun Forum 2024, took place at the Beijing International Fortune Center on March 27-28. Liao Zhengxin, Vice President of the Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning & Design (the Institute), was invited to the conference and toured its Theme Exhibition on Smart City. During the forum, Chen Meng, Deputy Director of the Digital Center of the Institute, delivered a keynote speech on Geographic Information and Smart City Construction using the planning example of Beijing’s sub-center, highlighting innovative approaches to smart city via spatial planning.

The Conference, co-hosted by the Beijing Association for Science and Technology, the Beijing Municipal Administration of Government Services and Data Management, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources, Tongzhou District People’s Government, and guided by the China Surveying and Mapping Association, is organized jointly by the Beijing Institute of Surveying and Mapping Design, the Beijing Surveying and Mapping Society, the Beijing Institute of Science and Technology, the Beijing Electronic Society, the Beijing Transportation Engineering Society, the Beijing Internet of Things Intelligent Technology Application Association, the China Surveying and Mapping Association Smart City Working Committee, and the Tongzhou District Association for Science and Technology. The conference focuses on the theme of “Empowering New Smart City Construction with Spatiotemporal Information” with the aim of gathering industry wisdom and exploring innovative applications and development trends of spatiotemporal information in smart city construction.

Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning & Design has been conducting research on smart cities for a long time, emphasizing the dual drivers of “planning innovation” and “technological innovation.” It actively innovates planning through digital technology to enhance planning effectiveness. Moving forward, it will persist in empowering technological advancements in Beijing’s three-level land space planning and implementation. The Institute aims to continuously enhance research in informatization, intelligence, and digital application, elevate spatial governance research and judgment, and actively propel the city towards becoming a global benchmark for smart cities.
