On January 5, Zhang Kai, Deputy Director of the Mentougou Branch of Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources, arrived at the Beijing Institute of Geological & Prospecting Engineering (“Institute” hereinafter) with a letter of thanks from the CPC Mentougou District Committee and Government. Zhang also brought 5 thank-you banners from the Mentougou District which were designated for 5 organizations affiliated to the Institute. Party Secretary Li Wenzhong, Deputy Party Secretary and President Liu Liangang and Vice President Liu Shaomin attended the ceremony, and Jiang Bo, Deputy Party Secretary of the Institute, participated in the meeting.

Zhang’s delegation gave high appraisal to the Institute for rushing to the frontline and contributing to its reconstruction in the aftermath of the July-23 flood in Mentougou. Zhang expressed his thanks to the Institute for dispatching excellent professionals to the Commission’s Mentougou Branch. According to Zhang Kai, the Institute’s supports to the Mentougou Branch are indispensable in the field of landscape construction, geo-disaster prevention and control, and monitoring and early warning. The two enjoy a solid foundation of cooperation and must actively deepen their collaboration going forward.

Jiang Bo warmly welcomed the arrival of Zhang Kai and his team, expressing sincere gratitude for the trust and recognition from the party committee and government of Mengoutou over the Institute’s support and service capacity. Jiang pointed out that the Institute had close cooperation with the Mentougou Branch from the early stage. Five affiliated organizations of the Institute participated in the rescue of geo-disasters caused by the strong rainfall on July 23, and the assessment of secondary geological disasters, as well as the recovery and reconstruction work in Mentougou District, which fell within their duty and an obligation. The Institute has strong support capabilities in urban disaster prevention and reduction, urban geo-safety, and ecological restoration. The Institute right now is aligning to the needs of various branches of the Commission for geological services with a view of continuously strengthening the foundational and pioneering role of geological work in planning and natural resource-related tasks. Efforts are being made to build a tailored support system to further enhance communication, cooperation, and integration between the two sides. The goal is to contribute wisdom and strength to the planning and management of natural resources in the capital.

During the event, Zhang Kai, on behalf of the Commission’s Mentougou Branch, presented thank-you banners to the Municipal Environmental Monitoring Institute, Disaster Prevention Institute, Geothermal Institute, Ecology Institute, and Kingdom Group, respectively.

Relevant personnel from the General Office and the HR Department of the Institute also attended the meeting.
