On December 23, 2023, the 2023 technical exchange meeting on the work of Wenyu River Park was held in Shunyi District, which was organized by the Office of Beijing Wenyu River Park Coordination Group. Shi Weiliang, level-one inspector of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources, attended the meeting, and Zhang Xiaoxin, Deputy Party Secretary of the Municipal Planning Institute, attended the meeting with the project team of the Institute.
During the meeting, the Municipal Planning Institute made the presentation of “Create an Iconic Project of Ecological Civilization from Planning to Implementation”, which introduced the work of the Institute in the process of planning and implementation of the Wenyu River Park. Technical interactions with experts were conducted covering ecological monitoring, planning and construction, park operation and management.
Zhang Xiaoxin said in his comment session that the park’s technical work mode is conducive to the collaborative efforts of professionals ranging from pre-planning to the design and implementation of the park, which is able to explore the whole process of control accompanied by the innovative practice of planning. Zhang suggested that the park should continue to carry out ecological monitoring with the concept of “digital twin” to efficiently strengthen the park management while drawing the operational and management experience of similar projects.
Shi Weiliang pointed out that the Park represents yet another important practice of the Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, which has set a new model for the planning and construction of Beijing’s parks, following the Olympic Park and the Central Green Forest Park. The completion of the Wenyu River Park demonstration area is the result of the full cooperation of all departments, ranging from the planning and design of the park to the construction and implementation team as well as the operational and monitoring team, which attests to the high-quality planning in the beginning. Shi Weiliang also expressed the hope that the park could enhance the ecological civilization in the capital city with high-quality planning and implementation and meet people’s expectations for a better life.
