On the morning of April 22, the Bureau, in joint effort with Dongcheng Office, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources Exploration, and the Geological Museum of China, held a theme publicity event for the 41st World Earth Day. Wei Chenglin, Director General of the Bureau, Li Yanfei, Deputy Director of the Bureau, Wei Wanshun, Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources Exploration, and personnel from relevant departments and offices of the two institutions participated in the event.

　　On the day of the event, leaders of the Bureau and workers of the publicity event distributed publicity materials on the World Earth Day and a Special Issue of Land and Resources Newspaper to the passerby and tourists. The publicity materials and the World Earth Day Special Issue were organized and edited basically for the publicity of the technical development and application of shallow geothermal resources, the construction of "Green Beijing", and the promotion of "low-carbon lifestyle". Over 1500 copies of the World Earth Day Special Issue and more than 1000 copies of publicity brochures and other materials were distributed on the day of the publicity event. On the spot of publicity event, the workers also publicized the progress for the construction of geological and mineral mountain parks and introduced in details the special resources, geological environment, cultural resources and tourism environment of Beijing with the help of display board and publicity brochures. Meanwhile, some geological samples were exhibited on site, and some geological scientists provided consultation service to the tourists.

　　On the 41st World Earth Day, the Bureau held the publicity event themed on "Cherishing the Earth's Resources, Transforming Development Mode, and Advocating a Low-Carbon Lifestyle" for the construction of "Green Beijing", where great effects have been achieved. It further enlarged the influence of the World Earth Day event in the society; shortened the distance between the institutions within the land and resources system and the mass; bettered the understandings of Beijing citizens on the circumstances in respect of land and resources; and further evoked people's recognition for the significance of eco-environment conservation and environmental protection.
