To actively cope with the August 14 storm, officials at all levels in the land and resources establishment paid close attention and made meticulous work arrangements top effectively prevent any possible geological hazard:
1. Members of the Flood Control Command of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources, officials in charge at district and country bureaus and section members were asked to be on duty, keep close telephone contact with all towns and villages, leverage the role of the geological hazard mass monitoring and prevention network, strengthen patrolling inspections, cooperate with the local flood control department to implement contingency plans depending on rainfall and flood regimes and if necessary, decisively adopt avoidance and transfer measures to ensure villager safety and achieve “Four Comprehensive Guarantees and Seven Implementations”.
2. At 15:00 of August 14, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources held a weather early warning consultation with the Beijing Meteorological Bureau, and subsequently issued a meteorological warning against abrupt geological hazards and notify all concerned sub-bureaus of meteorological early warning products.
3. The Geological Hazard Emergency Investigation Brigade of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources was asked to be ready for duty 24 hours a day and immediately arrive on site whenever hazards breaks about. All sub-bureaus were asked to pay close attention to rainfall regime, readily grasp township and village hazard information and report to the Flood Control Office and the Geological Hazard Emergency Investigation Brigade of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources (as well as to district and county flood control offices) at the first opportunity. All sub-bureaus were asked to promptly collect township and village statistics after rainfall ends, verify and then report them to the Flood Control Office (Geological Environment Division) of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources.
As of 9 O’clock of August 15, no report had been received of any geological hazard.
