On September 9, 2011,?Division of Mineral Resources Development of the Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources organized a meeting, examining and verifying the National Level Green Mine Pilot Units Applications from 5 mining enterprises. Through pre-meeting material verifying, hearing debriefing and questioning on the meeting, experts unanimously thought that they meet the national green mine application requirements and thus approved their applications. Deputy Director LI Yanfei was present at the meeting.
　　Green mine refers to the mine where the development and utilization of mineral resources, economic and social development and eco-environment protection are synchronized; the development and utilization of resources should be streamlined, mining methods should be scientific, production process should be environment friendly, enterprise management should be standardized and closed pit area should be ecological. After successful application, the mining enterprises will proceed to planning and execution according to the Green Mine Standard in about 1-2 years’ time. With the pass of evaluation, they will be officially named National Level Green Mines.    　
　　Beijing is to advance comprehensively the creation of green mine work which will be done in accordance with relevant requirements of the Ministry of Land and Resources; integrating local social and economic development features, the work will also be a real practice on implementing the “Scientific Approach to Development”. Beijing now has 38 solid mines with 4 of them having been listed into the first batch of National Level Green Mine Pilot Units. The rest will be there in a few years time as of plan. The initiation of Green Mine signifies a fundamental change in mining enterprises management and is a turning point of mineral resources management of Beijing.
