On April 22, to commemorate the 47th World Earth Day, the theme campaign of the 47th Earth Day was grandly held by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources, Beijing Geology and Mineral Exploration and Development Bureau, co-organized by Beijing Xicheng District Education Commission, and Xicheng Branch of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources, and organized by Beijing No. 14 Middle School. Themed with "save resources, protect the environment, and be the master to protect the earth", the event aims to arouse human's awareness of caring for the earth and protecting the homeland, promote conservation and intensive use of resources and advocate green and simple life, promote the coordinated development of resource development and environmental protection.
Deputy Inspector Zhou Xufeng of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources said in his speech that, it is an inevitable choice for us to save and intensively use resource, change the way of development, and promote green and simple life; only after we kindly treat the earth and cherish resources, firmly establish the development concept of being innovative, green, coordinated, open, and shared, achieve maximum economic and social benefits with minimal consumption of resources, and take the road of sustainable development, can human beings have a happy future. Students from Beijing No. 14 Middle School in speeches, debates, singing and other forms of performance more than brilliant, thought-provoking science program, called on students to perform the duties of protecting the nature and friendly treat the earth and enhance resource crisis and environmental protection awareness through a number of brilliant and thought-provoking science programs combining the theme of the event.
The event also gave awards to the winners of "Popular Science Painting Collection Activity for the 47th World Earth Day" organized by the Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources. The activity was themed with "save and intensively use resources, promote green and simple life", and the paintings were created from three aspects "Earth crisis, caring for the earth and beautiful earth". The activity started in February 2016, and more than 400 middle school students and teachers from Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and Beijing Xu Beihong Middle School participated in and completed more than 600 popular science paintings. Students painted pieces of exquisite picture with their paintbrushes, showing the younger generation's love of the planet and green life, their concerns about the human destruction of the earth's environment and also reflecting their vision for a beautiful home.
By conducting a variety of popular science activities, it helped guide young people to establish the concept of "cherish the Earth, resource conservation, green development, simple life", deepen their understanding of scientific knowledge of the Earth, national land resources policy and conditions, understanding of resources and environment, evoke the awareness of economical and intensive use of resources, assume the responsibility to protect the Earth, and bear the burden of building a "beautiful home" with practical action.
