Notice on Releasing the 2021 Edition of Geographical Base Map for Beijing’s Municipal Administrative Boundary

      In order to standardize the drawing of administrative boundaries on maps of Beijing, and to ensure the accuracy of boundaries, names of districts and office locations at all administrative levels, and to meet the needs of map producers and the public, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Beijing Municipal Regulations on Surveying and Mapping and the Measures for the Administration of Administrative Boundaries in Beijing, the “2021 Edition of Geographical Base Map for Beijing’s Municipal Administrative Boundary” is hereby published. Please read below for details:

I. The “2021 Edition of Geographical Base Map for Beijing’s Municipal Administrative Boundary” series consists of 52 maps in total.

1. The map of the entire jurisdiction of Beijing in 2k, 4k, 8k and 16k, altogether 8 maps in two sets, one colored set and one monochrome set.

2. The map of central urban areas of Beijing (including Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chaoyang, Fengtai, Shijingshan and Haidian Districts) in 2k, 4k, 8l, 16k and 32k, altogether 10 maps in two sets, one colored set and one monochrome set.

3. The map of Beijing’s 16 districts in 8k, totaling 32 maps in two sets, one colored set and one monochrome set.

4. The map of the Capital Functional Area (Xicheng and Dongcheng Districts) of Beijing in 8k, altogether 2 maps, one colored and one monochrome.

The 2021 Edition of Geographical Base Map focuses on administrative boundaries, and names and locations of administrative departments. It also includes water systems, major railways and roads, residential areas and parks, etc. The 2021 Edition of Geographical Base Map is modified from the 2020 version to include new administrative boundaries and locations, and new high-speed railways, highways and national trunk highways, to meet the needs of all districts in Beijing. This series of base maps will form the basis for the preparation of various maps of the city and facilitate public access to relevant geographical information. The base maps are available in JPG and PDF formats.

II. The 2021 Edition of Geographical Base Map is available free of charge to all sectors of the public and can be accessed and downloaded on the websites of Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources (ghzrzyw.beijing.gov.cn), Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau (mzj.beijing.gov.cn) and the MapWorld (beijing.tianditu.gov.cn).

III. The 2021 Edition of Geographical Base Map is not to be used as a basis for mediation of boundary disputes.
