In order to provide better operational and environment support for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games and Paralympic Winter Games, under the co-ordination of the Operations Department of the Beijing 2022 Organizing Committee, the Commission works in association with relevant stakeholders to refine the urban landscaping plan for the Games.
The Commission has recently worked with 9 municipal departments including the Urban Management Committee and 5 experts from the fields of planning, architecture, landscape, arts and history, and reviewed the landscaping plans in eight areas related to the Winter Olympics located in Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chaoyang, Haidian, Shijingshan, Shunyi, Yanqing districts and the Capital Airport. The competent authorities of the above 8 areas have carefully organized landscaping layout plans, and each plan is in full compliance with the master plan of the Games while reflecting the actual characteristics of each district. Regarding the Olympic Games landscaping program, the Commission proposed the following: 1) deepening the implementation of the Games’ master plan for urban landscaping, and ensure that the landscaping of each venue zone matches the overall masterplan; 2) using Olympic theme slogans, logos and other Olympic elements to enhance the Olympic atmosphere, enrich urban and rural landscaping; 3) ensuring the day-night time coherence of landscaping designs; 4) mutual learning between different districts to complement, coordinate and refine the implementation plan; and 5) ensuring the feasibility, practical effectiveness and safety of, and control the cost of landscaping plans.
The Commission will continue to revise and improve the landscaping plan for the areas related to the Winter Olympics, and to implement it immediately after it’s approved. The Commission will continue providing good services and sound operational and environmental support for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games and the Paralympic Winter Games, and actively contribute to the Games’ success.
