High-level Meeting Held between Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning & Design and the Royal Danish Embassy in China

On the afternoon of November 16, 2021, the Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning & Design and the Royal Danish Embassy in China held a seminar at the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall. A five-member delegation including Deputy Director and Embassy Minister Dou Wen, Counsellor Ke Hansi and Industry Counsellor An Nana attended the meeting on behalf of the Danish Embassy. Attendess on the Chinese side included President of the Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning & Design Mr. Shi Xiaodong; Research Director Huang Xiaochun; Liu Daoqiu, Deputy Director of the HR Department of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources; Hu Daxin, Deputy Curator of the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall and relevant staff of the Institute.


The meeting was moderated by Huang Xiaochun. Shi Xiaodong and Dou Wen delivered speeches respectively. Shi Xiaodong welcomed the visit of the Danish Embassy, and said that since the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Beijing and Copenhagen, the Institute has been actively cooperating and exchanging with the Danish Embassy in China and Copenhagen City Hall in the field of sustainable development. The year 2022 marks the 10th anniversary of the friendship between Beijing and Copenhagen, and in order to showcase the achievements of both sides, the Institute and the Danish side are planning to jointly organize an exhibition and salon in the form of “A Tale of Two Cities” to demonstrate the cooperation achievements of both sides under the topic of sustainable development. Ms. Dou Wen expressed her gratitude and full support for the invitation. She expressed that sustainable development is an important issue of common concern for both sides, and she hopes to promote Copenhagen’s sustainable development concept to the public in a simple and high-quality way despite the impact of the pandemic. Ms. Dou Wen expressed her high expectations in continuing the cooperating going forward.


Deputy Curator of the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall – Mr. Hu Daxin introduced the exhibition venue and background of “A Tale of Two Cities”, and the staffs from the Institute and the Danish Embassy exchanged over the plan of both sides and discussed the exhibition plan in detail. Further discussions were also conducted on cooperation in three key areas – environmental friendliness, friendly city for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as for children. 


Ms. Dou Wen, Liu Daoqiu and Shi Xiaodong summarized the exhibition plan, wrapped up the discussions, and put forward specific requirements for the next phase of work. Attendees on both sides toured the exhibition hall and other thematic exhibitions together. Going forward, both sides will earnestly implement the consensus of the meeting, deepen cooperation and ensure smooth delivery of the exhibition.
